Adoption of Teacher Training Courses at Brest State Technical University

Within the frameworks of Erasmus+ PRINTeL Project BrSTU teaching staff attended the Teacher Trianing courses organized by trained lecturers at BrSTU. Due to the courses the teaching staff members acquired new methods of and upgraded their knowledge in innovative teaching and learning.

Teacher Training (TT) Course: "Developing Open Educational Resources"

On November 18, 2019, a Teacher Training (TT) Course entitled "Developing Open Educational Resources" was held at the Brest State Technical University. The Teacher Training (TT) Course was aimed at disseminating the knowledge and skills gained by the teachers of the BrSTU (Chetyrbock N., Hranik I., Prarouski A.) during courses on the development of open educational resources at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). The course analyzed the problems of introducing open educational resources into the practice of the BrSTU and proposed measures to revitalize activities in this direction.

   

Topics:

  1. Define the course or program wherein to integrate OER
  2. Given the educational goals of the course/program, define the operational goals for using OER. Keep it simple when choosing tools to realize operational goals and select affordable learning objectives.
  3. Keep the logical structure of the course:
    • define the learning goals
    • collect the learning content and teaching methods
    • include a self-check for the student’s understanding
    • from the very early start, prepare the final assessment of the course
  4. Take due account of the didactic value and methodical characteristics of the materials that you use.
  5. Copyright is legal right that protects the use of your work once your idea has been physically expressed
  6. Copyright law lays out a framework of rules around how that work can be used. It sets out the rights of the owner, as well as the responsibilities of other people who want to use the work. You can do many things with your copyright work including for example copy, change or sell it, share it online or rent it to someone as well as prevent other people from doing those things

Teacher Training Course: "Innovative Methods of Education"

From 23 December till 28 December Brest State Technical University held integrated courses "Innovative Methods of Education" on the basis of the " Teaching Staff  Development Center" and IDPR BrSTU. PRINTeL project  trainers resented the following topics:

1. Video as a learning tool in the modern world;
2. Active and ICT based learning: M-learning and gamification
3. Hybrid / blended teaching and learning
4. Active and ICT based learning: M-learning and gamification;
5. The use of active learning in computer science

   

The courses (leading trainers Chetyrbock N.P., Hranik I.M., Prarouski A.G., Kachurko P.A., Golovko V.A., Lisovskaya T.V.) have aimed to improve the qualifications of the academic staff of BrSTU . The purpose of teaching education course “Innovative Methods in Education” is to improve the professional qualifications of teachers, increase the teaching support staff and specialists in the field of educational activities. As part of the continuing education training course reflected the methodology of e-education; of making video lectures and their use in the educational process; the skills and rules of using the MOODL platform and the VATL platform; the skills of hybrid / blended teaching and learning; active and ICT based learning: M-learning and gamification.
   

During the courses took part about 30 people. The experience of European universities about  introduction of modern educational technologies was presented. Main goal of TOT courses was proposed to introduce European experience into the practice of BrSTU.

The application of the acquired knowledge of teachers will improve the quality of teaching disciplines and bring the educational process to a new, more higher level.

On January 13, 2020, a Teacher Training (TT) Course entitled "Developing Open Educational Resources" was held at the Brest State Technical University. The Teacher Training (TT) Course was aimed at disseminating the knowledge and skills gained by the teachers of the BrSTU (Chetyrbock N., Prarouski A., Lisouskaya Т., Charnavokaya A.). The course analyzed the problems of introducing open educational resources into the practice of the BrSTU and proposed measures to revitalize activities in this direction.

   

Natallia Chetyrbock presented her course: "Hybrid / blended teaching and learning". In this course, she talked about the skills of using the educational platform VATL, MOODLE, on the importance of using e-portfolio in the educational process.

Next one, Prarouski Andrei introduced the topic «Active and ICT based learning: M-learning and gamification». He also presented a lecture on the use of open educational resources based on knowledge gained at the University of Leuven. Tatsiana Lisouskaya presented the topic “Active and ICT based learning: M-learning and gamification”. She said that to use of a game element during classes greatly increases the effectiveness of training. Alena Charnavokaya presented a lecture “Active Learning in the Flipped Classroom”.

From 17 till 28 February Brest State Technical University held integrated courses "Organization and management of the educational process in the higher education system" on the basis of the " Teaching Staff  Development Center" and IDPR BrSTU. PRINTeL project  trainers resented the following topics:

  1. Video as a learning tool in the modern world
  2. Active and ICT based learning: M-learning and gamification
  3. Hybrid / blended teaching and learning
  4. The use of Open Educational Recourses
  5. Active Learning in the Flipped Classroom

   

The courses (leading trainers Shalabyta N.N.,  Chetyrbock N.P., Hranik I.M., Prarouski A.G., Lisovskaya T.V., Charnavokaya A.V.) have aimed to improve the qualifications of the academic staff of BrSTU . The purpose of teaching education course “Organization and management of the educational process in the higher education system” is to improve the professional qualifications of teachers, increase the teaching support staff and specialists in the field of educational activities.
